The Jewish Federations of North America ("JFNA") consist of 146 Jewish Federations and dozens of Network communities which collectively raise and distribute more than $3 billion annually to support flourishing Jewish life and the needs of the Jewish people in their home communities and around the world. The Jewish Federation system, among the top 10 charities on the continent, leads the largest network of volunteer and professional leaders who build and sustain Jewish communities that are healthy, safe, caring, welcoming and inclusive, educated and engaged, involved in the broader community, and deeply connected to Israel and the global Jewish people.

 

Jewish Learning and Jewish Growth at JFNA:

The Jewish Learning and Jewish Growth team at JFNA is focused on creating dynamic and impactful moments of Jewish learning and growth that help leaders nurture the deeper sense of why to lead in the Jewish community. This department has already reached approximately 30,000 leaders in North America through an array of Jewish learning opportunities, fellowships, and service travel experiences. The offerings are designed to help increase participants’ Jewish self-confidence, their Jewish knowledge, their connections to other Jews, and their excitement in being part of organized Jewish life. We are expanding our work, our team, and our educational offerings with the ambitious goal of engaging 100,000 leaders throughout North America.

 

Position Description:

The Assistant Director is a new role that will be key in dramatically expanding Jewish learning and growth opportunities for Jews across North America. We are looking for a professional who is exceptional at implementation, execution, and follow through helping to turn vision into reality. The AD will be an essential thought partner with the Chief Jewish Learning Officer to envision, design, and create a new platform for Jewish learning in North America that will include developing new curriculum, working with faculty, designing, recruiting, and launching new educational offerings.

A vital member of the Jewish Learning and Jewish Growth team, the Assistant Director will connect directly with Federation professionals, colleagues across JFNA, and the consultants and facilitators with whom we partner. The best-fit candidate is a detail-oriented professional, with a knack for keeping a team on schedule, while moving towards a shared vision.

 

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the CJLO and other team members, as they are hired, to develop and implement a variety of Jewish learning programs to support and grow Jewish learning across the system.
    • Help to oversee the design, development, curation, and project-management of Jewish Learning Opportunities (in-person and online).
    • Manage and support program consultants, facilitators, and others on team to determine workflows, timelines, logistics, and deliverables.
    • Coordinate with teams across JFNA and external vendors to ensure quality and excellence + support for key tasks, including session scripting, production, marketing, logistics, and budgeting.
    • Generate program-related resources, including templates, visual aids, multimedia tools, training booklets, and other educational materials.
    • Manage evaluation, tracking, and data collection for purposes of continuous improvement and reporting.
    • Use data and learning to support team in iterating on course offerings improve over time.
  • Establish relationships with Federation professionals participating in JFNA’s Jewish Learning offerings, providing excellent customer service and follow-through.

Qualifications:

  • Experience developing and executing educational or related programs that serve strategic learning, philanthropic, Jewish education, or related goals.
  • Exemplary attention to detail and time management.
  • Experience keeping colleagues on track.
  • Excellent project management and collaboration skills.
  • Exemplary writing and presenting skills.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills.
  • Familiarity with the landscape of Jewish organizations and Jewish life as well as nonprofits a plus.
  • Ability to travel for key program and organizational events, as well as occasional meetings.
  • Highly organized, strategic thinker, and doer.
  • Strong team player and comfortable with independent work.

SALARY RANGE: The hiring salary range for this role is $80,000 – $95,000.

 

Open to hiring an outstanding person in any location in North America but slight preference will be given to candidates who are in the Philadelphia area.
