The Jewish Federation of St. Louis (the Federation), the Jewish community’s central community-building, planning, and philanthropic organization, invites nominations and applications for the position of President and CEO.
With an endowment of over $130 million, the Federation is one of the region’s largest and most effective nonprofit organizations and is recognized as an innovator in the Jewish communal world. With an aspirational and ambitious strategic plan in place, the Federation is uniquely poised to build upon its success to date as a driver in advancing and serving a vibrant and diverse Jewish community of more than 60,000.
Reporting to the Chairman and an engaged Board of Directors who have demonstrated a willingness to take risks, the next President and CEO will provide bold and creative leadership for the Federation and its 60 employees, enabling it to build on a strong foundation of recent success and to accelerate its transformation from a traditional federated grantmaking and fundraising organization to a collaborative, impact-driven community partner and thought leader. To lead the Federation in this vital work, the next President and CEO should possess a record of success in guiding a complex organization through the implementation of strategies that lead to innovative progress and change. S/he should be a strong and inspirational communicator, a collaborative and resilient leader, an effective and enthusiastic fundraiser, and a seasoned manager demonstrating highly developed interpersonal skills and deep integrity. This is a highly visible role, both within and beyond the Jewish community.
The desired candidate will be knowledgeable and passionate about Judaism and Israel, with a personal commitment to Jewish education and values as well as compassion for, and understanding of, the Jewish people and the needs and welfare of Jews locally, in Israel, and around the world. The Federation seeks to be a resource for the entire Jewish community.
The St. Louis metropolitan area, home to 2.8 million residents, offers world-class educational, medical, and cultural institutions, extensive outdoor recreation activities, two professional sports teams, and a celebrated music scene. The region has a highly diversified business economy and is home to the headquarters of 17 Fortune 1,000 companies as well as a strong start-up community. Affordable housing, extensive green space, and strong public and private schools add to a high quality of life.
