FEREP Graduate Scholarship Program

The Federation Executive Recruitment & Education Program (FEREP) is a graduate scholarship program, funded through The Jewish Federations of North America Mandel Center for Leadership Excellence, for students who are planning careers in Jewish Federations. FEREP alumni have gone on to hold top Jewish leadership positions; 12 current Federation executive directors are FEREP alumni.

The FEREP program awards up to $40,000 for tuition in specified areas of graduate study, in return for a minimum two-year paid work commitment in a North American Jewish Federation following graduate school.

The FEREP graduate scholarship has three important objectives:

  • Preparing its students for the transition to professional excellence in Federation
  • Creating strong cohorts of students who see each other as colleagues and resources as they proceed through their careers in the Jewish community
  • Ensuring that the Federation system has passionate and committed leaders for the future

In addition to receiving significant funding for graduate study, FEREP students learn about issues of interest to emerging Federation professionals through conferences, webinars and conference calls. Toward the end of graduate school, the Mandel Center helps FEREP students prepare for and secure jobs within Federations.
