Our Hearts Are Full As Ethiopian Olim Arrive in Israel

On Thursday, December 3, a group of Ethiopian olim landed in Israel. We join the Government of Israel and The Jewish Agency for Israel in celebrating this historic event and welcoming this group of olim to their homeland. Helping Ethiopians and other Jews worldwide come home to Israel is one of the clearest demonstrations of our love and commitment to the State of Israel, which is central to our core mission. Today, our hearts are full as we embrace our brothers and sisters and work to ensure their transition to a new life.

Here, Chairman of the Executive of The Jewish Agency Isaac Herzog takes a moment at the airport to share this special moment with you. Click below to hear his message.

Many thousands are waiting in Ethiopia to join their families in Israel. Most left their homes and villages long ago for Gondar and Addis Ababa. Despite their ongoing limbo and harsh conditions, the communities in these cities maintain a strong Jewish identity and carry out daily Jewish rituals. Over the past 40 years, we have worked together with The Jewish Agency and the Government of Israel to bring more than 92,000 Ethiopians to Israel.
